Jordan Waiti

Jordan Waiti (Ngāti Pikiao, Te Rarawa, Ngaati Maahanga) has had a lifelong commitment to improving the wellbeing of Māori. This commitment has stemmed from his schooling in Kohanga Reo and Kura Kaupapa Māori, followed by his boarding school attendance at Te Aute College.

Jordan has been researching aspects of Māori health and wellbeing for the past 20 years, with a particular focus on the benefits of reaffirming cultural identity. He has previously worked for government agencies and not-for profit organisations, assisting them with Kaupapa Māori research, cultural safety and Māori community engagement. In 2018 he was recognised as one of the 100 Māori Health Leaders.

Jordan is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Health at the University of Waikato, where he teaches courses on Health Promotion and Māori wellbeing. Jordan is also a co-founder of Aotearoa Water Patrol, a mātauranga Māori based water safety organisation based out of Raglan/Whaingaroa.
