Paul Newsom

Paul Newsom bio picture for Powerdigm

Paul was born in Yorkshire, England, and has an honours degree in Engineering and Business Studies from Portsmouth University. Paul has always maintained a keen passion for his own learning and development, most recently gaining a micro-credential in Leading Beyond Sustainability, and a nano-degree in Innovation.

Paul’s diverse experience of manufacturing, engineering, technical and education sectors sets him apart from many advisors and consultants with single sector experience. In his early twenties, he worked in project management on solar power installations in Botswana and Kenya.  Seeing poverty for the first time and maintaining his own safety while working alone in these countries helped him build resilience and it started his journey of helping other people.

He formed his own consulting, training and facilitation business in 2004. Paul brings a voice of reason, asks the hard questions, seeks the honest answers, and works with you to think strategically to figure out and implement a plan to enable change for good.

More recently he has been inspiring rangatahi throughout New Zealand to create their own future with Young Enterprise Trust. He has led much of their work in entrepreneurship, innovation and financial literacy.

Paul is a dad to two inspirational sons. Home is in Lower Hutt, where Paul does a heap of stuff for his local community through Rotary. He is past president of Rotary Hutt Valley, past Assistant District Governor, and is recognised with a Paul Harris Fellow with sapphire pin. He was the Chair of the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards for 2020 – 2022.

His happy place is the beach or the bush, or a DIY project… after a morning run.
