Sarah Morris

I want to channel my energy into fulfilling the vision of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and dismantling neoliberal systems rooted in white supremacy in Aotearoa.

Sarah Morris is passionate about how champions in the community sector can contribute to decolonisation and fulfilling the vision of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Drawn to social justice through storytelling, Sarah trained as a journalist before moving abroad and establishing a successful career in international development.

She has worked for international aid agencies, such as Oxfam and UNICEF, supporting community development projects in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. After returning home to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2008, Sarah reoriented her career to children’s rights advocacy.

She has run her own consultancy business supporting non-government organisations and charitable trusts working for social and environmental justice, and is now a Board member of Hui E! - a peak body for the tangata whenua, community and voluntary sector in Aotearoa.

Sarah's last role was Manager of Advice at the Office of the Children's Commissioner, an independent Crown Entity that advocates for the interests, rights and wellbeing of children and young people in Aotearoa.
